Chuck Dempsey, 70, of Catlin passed away on December 30, 2007 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Chuck was born June 27, 1937 in Danville son of Charles Walter and Ella Fern Luttrull Dempsey Sr. He married Glenna Peggy Nichols on May 9, 1995. She survives along with three children: Kim Bolton (Greg) of Danville, James Dempsey of FL, and Tracy Allen of Oakwood, IL; Stepdaughters: Kellie Messmore of Danville, IL and Robin Anderson of Catlin, IL.; Brother: Robert L. Slifer (Marge) of Lowell, IN; Sister-in-law Linda Ellmore of Danville; twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He loved their dog Pebbles that passed two years prior, but quickly started spoiling the new pup Ellie. He was preceded in death by his parents, and stepdaughter Tammy Brumfield. Chuck attended schools in Danville until enlisting in the U.S. Army. After being discharged from the Army, he worked for General Motors 30 some years until retiring in 1990. After retirement, he owned and operated Corner Lounge in Catlin. He was a member of the American Legion Post #776 in Catlin. He enjoyed playing golf at Blue Needles golf course and shooting skeet occasionally. Chuck loved to watch Dale Earnhardt Jr., the Cardinals and the Illini play, but, would watch any team as long as it was sports. A Celebration of Chucks Life will be held at 10:00 am Friday, January 4, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL. Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Thursday evening at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Memorial may be made to the Humane Society.
