Charles “Chuck” Brakley, 68, of Covington, passed away on January 20, 2015 at St. Vincent Hospice Center in Indianapolis, IN. Chuck was born on October 30, 1946 in Covington, IN, the son of Caleb and Pauline (Walters) Brakley. He married his soul mate Mary Murphy on December 23, 1988 in Crawfordsville, IN. She survives. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Mary Brakley of Covington, IN, one daughter, Jalyn Bowen of Covington, IN, one step-son, Kyle Wilson of Evansville, IN, two sisters; Sharon (Frank) Barber of Covington, IN and Ruth Ann (Phil) Crowder of Attica, IN, two grandchildren, Edan and Judah Wilson, nephews; David and Doug Barber, Kyle, Kent and Kevin Crowder, several special great nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Caleb and Pauline Brakley. Chuck graduated from Covington High School in 1964. He was a member of the United States Marine Reserves. Chuck worked at ThyssenKrupp Crankshaft Company in Danville for several years before retiring in 2010. He was a member of the NRA. You could say Chuck was a family man, a jack of all trades, helping his brother in laws on the family farm and doing electric work, and an outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing down the Wabash River with friends that called each other the “Covington Yacht Club”. He was a loving husband, father, brother and uncle and will be missed by so many. A casual celebration of Chucks life will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 1:00 PM EST time at Sunsets Covington Chapel in Covington, IN with Pastors Gary Johnson and Duane Mycroft officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 PM EST time on Friday, January 23, 2015 at the funeral home. Chuck will be laid to rest at Mount Hope Cemetery in Covington, IN. Memorials can be made in Chucks name to the Covington Foundation, Class of 1964 Memorial Fund or The American Cancer Society.
