Charles Charlie Walter Burke, beloved and dedicated follower of Jesus Christ, passed this life at 7:55 p.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. Charlie was born on April 19, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Walter John and Mary (Schmidt) Burke. He married Mary Louise Godwin on August 22, 1983 at the Rock Church in Danville. He is survived by his wife Mary Louise Burke of Oakwood; three sons- Charles Ted Theodore Burke of Chandler, Arizona, Jeff (Maranda) Burke Sr. of Marion, Illinois and Michael Jonathon Burke of Urbana, Illinois; one brother- Kerry Joseph (Debbie) Burke of Ft. Pierce, Florida; two sisters- Barbara Wolf and Dorothy (Allen) Johnson both of Ft. Pierce, Florida; mother- Mary Burke of Ft. Pierce, Florida; three grandchildren- Camryn Burke of Chandler, Arizona, Jeff Burke Jr. and Elizabeth Burke of Marion, Illinois; several nieces, nephews, and his beloved Yellow Lab Simon. He was preceded in death by his father, and his sister Kathy Canfield. Charlie graduated from Martin County High School in Stuart, Florida. He was the owner and operator of C&L Glass Company for 21 years. He was a member of the Rock Church, member of the Worship Team at Urbana Assembly of God, and he was the former pastor at the Potter House in Danville. Charlie loved sharing his faith in Christ and ministering to people. He loved to play and listen to worship music. Charlie enjoyed playing his guitar, boating, shooting guns, and performing magic tricks. He was a collector of knives, guns, coins and guitars. Charlie was a loving husband, father and enjoyed playing with his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his love of life and people. A Celebration of the Life of Charlie Walter Burke will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 10, 2007 at Sunsets Community and Life Tribute Center (formerly Lakeside-Barrick Funeral Chapel), with Pastor Randy Downing officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 " 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Tribute Center. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park . Memorials may be made to World Vision.
