Charles 'Charlie' Oscar Mcdaniel

Danville - Charles "Charlie" Oscar McDaniel, 83, of Tilton passed away at 5:10 pm on September 27, 2017 at his home in Tilton. Charles was born on January 9, 1934 the son of Orville Lida and Opal Mae (Ross) McDaniel in Danville, IL. He married Deloris High on August 30, 1952 and she preceded him in death on June 3, 2007. Survivors include four sons, Charles (Tina Davis) McDaniel, Jr, of Danville, Lancie (Tyranne) McDaniel of Westville, James McDaniel of Tilton, and Kevin (Shari Elmore) McDaniel of Tilton, one daughter, Stacy Hackman of Tilton, three sisters, Annabelle Atwood, Imagene Atwood and Opal (Paul) Trapp all of Westville, 19 grandchildren, Angie, Amy, Lance, Shayna, Chris, Kayla, Kristal, Brittany, Levi, Travis, Devin, Breanna, Brandon, Aiden, Jamie, Mike, Mark, Matt and Jerry, 24 great grandchildren as well as a very special friend, Naomi Vargo of Tilton and family friend and caretaker, Vicki LaFond of Danville, IL. "Charlie" is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Deloris, one son, Russell McDaniel, one sister, Luluabelle Holycross, six brothers, Norman, Robert, James, Glen, William and Orville Jr. as well as one infant granddaughter and one infant grandson. "Charlie" was a Drywaller for Alexander Drywall for many years. He was a member of the Handyman Association, coached a Girls Softball Team, "Charlie's Angels" for 10 years, loved throwing horseshoes, was an avid pocket knife collector and enjoyed spending time outside doing yardwork tending to his plants and flowers, tinkering in his garage and was an avid St Louis Cardinals Fan. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion Street, Danville, IL. Drew Mentzer will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded following the funeral service. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 pm on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at the funeral home.
