Charles 'Charlie' A. Lewis

Charles A. "Charlie" Lewis, 83, of Georgetown, passed away at 7:10am, Monday, February 25, 2019, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. He was born on October 1, 1935, in Vermilion County, IL, the son of Pleasant and Nancy {Pribble} Lewis. He was married to Betty Wells on April 17, 1954, in Georgetown. She survives.

He is also survived by his son, Dennis (Mary) Lewis, five grandchildren, & 7 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Kevin Lewis, six brothers, & two sisters.

Charlie retired from Westville School District in 1998 where he worked as the custodian for many years. Early in life, he enjoyed playing the banjo, fiddle, & harmonica. He also enjoyed woodworking, working on chainsaws, and collecting John Deere toy tractors. Charlie loved his family and cherished the time he spent with them, especially his grandkids.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1:15pm, Friday, March 1, 2019, at Sandusky Cemetery, Westville, with Gary Hendricks officiating. Visitation will be 12:00pm to 1:00pm, Friday, March 1, 2019, at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Westville, located at 414 S. State St. Memorial donations may be given in his name to American Diabetes Association. Please join his family in sharing memories through his Tribute wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
