Charles B. Simison

Charles B. Simison, 89, of Bringhurst, IN, formerly of Danville, IL, passed away August 14. He was born March 7, 1928 to Charles A and Lois Goff Simison in Romney, IN and had one sister, Patricia Swarts. All of whom are now deceased. After high school, Charles joined the Purdue NROTC program in 1946, graduating with a BS in Electrical Engineering and BS in Military Science in 1950. Joining while at Purdue, he was a Mason and Scottish Rite member for over 60 years. He served as a Naval Officer for three years: two years on a destroyer and one on a minesweeper. Both tours of duty included the waters off Korea and Charles made one "world cruise" while on active duty. On August 10, 1952 he married Cozetta Rardon in Lafayette, IN. They had two sons, Tom of Fairhope, AL and Ted (Katie) of Peoria, IL. Charles has six grandchildren, as both Tom and Ted have two daughters and a son, and two great grandchildren. After his naval service, he spent three years with Honeywell in Indianapolis and then joined Bohn Heat Transfer in Danville, IL in 1956. There he held various positions including Vice President of Engineering and General Manager of OEM Sales. He co-authored a Finned Coil Design Manual, represented the company on various trade organizations, served on the Gulf & Western Industries Product Design Committee and was listed in Who's Who in Engineering. He retired in 1987 after his wife's cancer recurrence. He remarried June 1, 2002 to Virginia Naylor Bush and relocated to Bringhurst, IN where they have four children: Jennifer (Joe) Beale, Jane (Sam) Zook, Randy (Julie) Bush, Jay (Debbie) Bush and thirteen grandchildren nearby. Charles enjoyed his talented children and grandchildren and their activities, mushrooming, travel, golf (two holes-in-one), choir singing, gardening and Purdue sports. A celebration of Charles's life will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 North Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834 with Pastor Justin Snider officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Memorials can be made in his name to the church of your choice.
