Charles (Chuck) Claypool, 88, joined his wife of 63 years in heaven, on May 2nd, 2017. Charles was born on March 21, 1929, to John and Blanche (Downs) Claypool, the 3rd of five children. Charles is preceded in death by his wife Delores; parents; brothers, John Claypool, Garold Claypool; and sister Freda Goulding. He is survived by his sister Hilda Wangler. Charles and Verna Delores Porter were married on December 24, 1949, in Danville. Their children Connie (Russ) Osgood of Danville, IL and Mike (Cindy) Claypool on Newburgh, IN, blessed them with four grandchildren. Susan (Robert) Sadler, of Danville, IL, Cindy Osgood of Hayward, CA, Clint (Alisha) Claypool of Newburgh, IN, and Jessica (Farrin) Davis of Evansville, IN. Their two great granddaughters, Erica and Alexis Sadler were a welcome addition to their family. Charles spent his adult life fixing cars and working at auto dealerships in the Danville area. He started as a mechanic in the Packard garage and moved from there to McAleer Buick as a service manager. He then worked for Shepherd Lincoln Mercury as a parts manager. After retiring from Sheperd he opened his own business and repaired and sold cars from his Griffin street location. He and Delores became snow birds to Florida for several years until they became full time Florida residents, enjoying their time in the sunshine and warmth of the Sarasota area. Later moving back to Danville when health issues made living closer to family a necessity for them. The Lord and His church were a big part of Chuck's life; at Second Church of Christ, he used his mechanical abilities to keep the old building, at 609 N Bowman, operating as chairman of building and grounds and also served on the eldership for many years. His love of the Lord was apparent in Florida also as he and Delores were instrumental in starting a new congregation in Sarasota.
