Charles M. Appelman was called home on November 26, 2023 at his home in Kentucky. He was born to Beulah and Raymond Appelman on February 4,1955, He spent most of his life in Catlin Illinois, attended Catlin High School and graduated in 1973. He married Marla J. Johnson on Nov. 9,1974 and they had 5 children. He later married Paula Homan on April 30,1994. Together they had 1 child and he raised 2 stepchildren.
He worked at Quaker Oats/PepsiCo for 35 years, retiring in 2017. In his free time, he enjoyed watching football, fishing, shooting pool, and playing poker with his kids, grandkids, and close friends.
Charles (Chuck) will forever be remembered as a stubborn man with a big heart who loved to joke and hassle everyone he met. A man who would do anything for those he loved. He will always be remembered as a racecar driver who never made it. He created years of memories over the 4th of July, New Years, and Thanksgiving which usually ended with him taking all the kids money in poker.
He leaves behind eight surviving children: Rebecca Marcinko (Mark), Brian Appelman (Bobbi Jo),
Jason Appelman (Sara), William Appelman (Genie), Tyrone Homan (Amber), Ashley Elliott, Yanci Luke, (Brandon) Trever Appelman (Ashlyn).

GREAT GRANDCHILDREN:
Zion Appelman, Zionna Appelman, Jayce Boothe, Jacob Tucker, Parker and Paislee.
One nephew, Michael (Milo) Lockheart, one great niece Ciera Lockheart and one great-great niece.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Two brothers, Wallace Ottis and Raymond Howard, one sister, Fern Lockheart, and two grandchildren, Brittney Appelman, Tina Jo Fehr and his dear friend Robert Walker.
He leaves behind special Friends: Jerry Holmes (Paula), Randy Davis (Cindy), and Bill Pitlik Jr. (Cindy), Linda Poeppel, Rita Walker, Richard Lappin, and son from another mother, Paul Williams (Beatrice). Tamara Appelman, Corrie Hardin, Cherri Morlan, Melissa Contreras, Ryan Tucker, Brandon Alton, Lee Walters, Aimee Ritchey, Brandon Fox, and many others whom he thought of as his children.
Visitation will be held on Friday December 1, 2023 11am-1pm with a service at 1pm at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, 200 E West St Georgetown, Illinois 61846 Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Indianola, Illinois.
