Charles Andrew Zimmerman

Charles Andrew Zimmerman Sr, 86, of Bismarck passed away at his home on October 10, 2023 at 4:38 PM.

Charles was born on October 1, 1937 the son of Arthur and Margaret (Bowers) Zimmerman in Danville, IL. He married Sandra Davis on December 4, 1998 in Bismarck, IL and she survives.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Zimmerman of Bismarck, IL, his children, Charla Martin of Drexel, MO, Charles A (Jodi) Zimmerman Jr of Bloomington, IL, Chris (Jerry) Gibson of Branson, MO, Carlena (Dawon) Ross of Kansas City, KS, his stepchildren, Bryan (Ronda) Chrisman of Bismarck, IL and Lance (Nicole) Chrisman of Marysville, IL, eleven grandchildren, Kenneth Martin, Michael Martin, Brandi Zimmerman, Katie Zimmerman, JonChristopher Collins, Jeremiah Collins, Noah Collins, Hannah Collins, Faith Collins, Mikaila Chrisman and Gavin Chrisman as well as three great-grandchildren, Lewis, Graham and Callahan Martin.

Charles graduated from Danville High School. He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Wanda Elizabeth Mitchell and two grandchildren, Christopher Collins and Rebekah Collins.

Charles was a carpenter and later in life drove a school bus for the Bismarck Community School District. He was an avid collector of Lionel Trains and enjoyed calling B.I.N.G.O, listening to live music, puzzles, playing cards, and cheering on the Chicago Cubs and Fighting Illini.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, IL 61834. JonChristopher Collins will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 1-3:00 PM on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at the funeral home.
