Charlene Sawyer

Roberta Charlene Sawyer, 84, of Catlin, passed away at 10:45pm, Saturday, May 11, 2018, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center, Danville. She was born on June 17, 1933, in Catlin the daughter of Rollie and Lena {Clingan} Howe. She was united in marriage to Gene Sawyer on April 20, 1952, in Macon, IL. He will miss her dearly. She will also be missed by: her daughter, Debra (Dale) Dowers of San Clemente, CA; her grandchildren, Lindsay Wilson, Rachel Wright, & Heather Hansen; her great grandchildren, Zoe Wilson & Charlie Hansen; and her sister, Betty Biggs of Georgetown. She was preceded in death by: her parents; and her son, Kevin Sawyer. Charlene graduated from Georgetown High School Class of 1951. She worked as an Avon Representative for over 40 years. She was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church. She loved Bingo, traveling to Las Vegas to visit family & play at the Casinos. She also enjoyed going camping. Charlene adored her grandchildren and loved being with her family. A celebration of Charlene's life will be held at 1:00pm, Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E. West Street, Georgetown with Pastor Matt Filicsky officiating. Visitation will be held 11:00am to 1:00pm on Wednesday prior to her service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park, Danville. Memorial donations may be given in her name to Fairview United Methodist Church.
