Covington, Ind. -- Charity Mae Martin, 87, of Covington, passed away at 3:54 p.m. EST Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Williamsport Nursing and Rehabilitation in Williamsport, Indiana. She was born March 21, 1925 in Indianola, Illinois, the daughter of the late George and Lucy Kelsheimer Tuggle. She married Richard E. Martin on August 22, 1948 at Christian Union Church north of Perrysville, Indiana. He preceded her in death on January 30, 2001. Survivors include three daughters, Kathy(Donald)Jensen of Bourbonnais, Illinois; Crystal Leach of Perrysville, Indiana and Karen(Ron)Johnson of Tangier, Indiana; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two sisters, Joy Love Johnston of Fithian, Illinois and Jean(Marvin)Collom of Danville, Illinois; special nephew, Bob(Arlene)Grubb of Danville, Illinois; special friend, Joy Grubbs of Veedersburg, Indiana and several nieces and nephews. Charity was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers. Charity formerly worked as a janitor at North Vermillion High School. She later worked with her husband at their business, Martin Construction. Charity formerly attended Christian Union Church and most recently was attending Rileysburg Independant Christian Church. She was a 1943 graduate of Indianola High School. Charity enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. Funeral services: 10 a.m. EST Monday, January 21, 2013 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Pastor Jarrad Brothers; Burial: Lower Mound Cemetery north of Perrysville, Indiana; Visitation: 6 to 9 p.m. EST Sunday, January 20, 2013 at the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Monday. Contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association or Stringtown Church of God.
