Charaline Anne Myers

Urbana - Charaline Anne Myers, 86, passed away on Wednesday February 22, 2017 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. She was born on September 16, 1930 in Champaign, IL to Charles Earnest and Letha Naomi (Sanders) Smiley. Charaline is survived by her former husband Leroy Myers; children Maureen Paden, Ethel Wombles, Deana Fox, Gerald Palmisano, Charles Palmisano, and Rose Kranz; 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents; paternal grandparents Harry and Lillie Wilson; maternal grandparents Joseph and Emma Sanders; an infant son; one granddaughter; 3 stillborn brothers; 3 husbands Richard Morfey, Delmar Molck, and Anthony Palmisano; and cousins Richard Sanders, Ervine Courson, and Kenneth Sanders. Charaline attended Champaign schools and graduated from Central High School in 1948. She was employed with Magnavox, Illinois Bell Cap and Gown, and Daniels Studio on U of I Campus. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, crocheting, and doing crafts. Charaline was the first Illinois inaugural member of the Sure Jell Hall of Fame by acquiring over 250 ribbons at the State & County Fairs where she made jams, jellies, butters, and marmalades. She began in 1982 and last entered in 2012. Charaline was a USWBA Hall of Fame bowler. She bowled in 3 houses and was president and vice president in Western Senior League where she made many lifelong friends. A celebration of Charaline's life will be held at 2pm on Sunday February 26, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home, 710 N. Neil St. Champaign, IL 61820. Reverend Debra Joy Hart will officiate. Memorial visitation will be held from 1-2pm at the funeral home with a private family viewing at 12pm. Memorial donations may be made in Charaline's name to the American Lung Association, the American Heart Association, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
