Cecil H. Blakley

Cecil Hayes Blakley, 83, of Mahomet passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024. He was born in Edmonton, KY on April 13, 1940, the son of James and Ella Mae (Daniels) Blakley. He married Julianne Bewley, she survives.

Cecil is also survived by his children, Mary Ellan Blakley, and Dan (Karen Huntley) Blakley; grandchildren, Carolyn Thrash, Eleena Mullins, Sarah Duddleston, Veronica Duddleston, Dam Duddleston, Julia Blakley, Madeline Blakley; brother, Arnold (Martha) Blakley, and 4 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, grandson, and 8 siblings.

Cecil was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Mahomet American Legion Post 1015. He was also a devoted member of the Mahomet Christian Church. Known as Dr. Dolittle by his family, Cecil was an animal lover and had a knack for gaining their trust. He was also known for his outgoing and friendly personality. He could often be found dancing or tending his garden.

Cecil will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting him.

Visitation will be held from 4 pm to 6 pm on Monday, April 1, 2024, at Sunsets Mahomet Chapel 1102 Churchill Rd. Mahomet, IL 61853. A Funeral Service will be at 11 am on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the Mahomet Christian Church 908 N. Lake of the Woods Rd. Mahomet, IL 61853.

Memorial donations may be made in Cecils name to the Mahomet Christian Church.
