Cecil E. Bud Ribbe, 93, of Danville passed away at 7:30am on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Danville. He was born on September 22, 1917 in Danville, the son of Harry and Jessie (Greene) Ribbe. He married Juanita L. Stout on March 28, 1937 in Danville. Bud is survived by his wife of 73 years and their two children, Jim (Ramona) Ribbe of Danville, and Sandy (Bob) Weaver also of Danville. Bud is also survived by their foster son, Larry (Michele) Pattison of St. Louis, MO, one niece, Joan (Dean) Bowman of Danville, and many of his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. His parents, 2 brothers, Roy and Daniel Ribbe, and three sisters, Nina Martin, Helen Robbins, and Frieda Ribbe preceded Bud in death. Bud graduated from Danville High School and served in the United States Navy during WWII as a Navy Seabee. After the service, bud returned to Danville, and worked for Eisner-Jewel Grocery as a butcher until his retirement on January 1st, 1984. He was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Danville, the American Legion Post #210 of Danville, and the Vermilion County board for many years. Buds favorite past time was umpiring for the American Legion Post 210 Baseball League for 27 years. He loved his family and fishing more than anything. A Celebration of Life for Cecil Bud Ribbe will began at 3:00pm on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, located at 3940 N. Vermilion Street in Danville with military honors to be performed by the Danville American Legion Post 210. He will be entombed at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Visitation for family and friends will be from 1pm until time of service at the funeral home on Saturday, December 4, 2010. Memorial contributions may be made in Buds name to the Bethel Lutheran Church and/or the Danville American Legion Post 210. E-mail condolences may be sent to the family at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com
