Danville, IL. Cecil A. Steele, 84, passed away at 12:20pm Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Presence Covenant Hospital in Urbana, IL. He was born on February 9, 1931, one half mile south of Wingate, IN., to Edgar and Dottie (Utterback) Steele. After school and three years in the Air Force, he married Barbara Rose Brann July 8, 1950 in Lafayette, IN. She preceded him in death on December 7, 1992. He married Arline Grace Pearson on July 24, 1993, in Danville, IL., she survives. Also Surviving are three daughters, Beverly Jo (William) Smith of Franklin, IN., Sandra Elaine Wynn of Cairo, IL., and Sharon Lynn (David) Merz of Grove City, OH.; two step-children, Martha Whipple of Ft. Myers, FL., and Jackie (Michael) Shunick of Johns Creek, GA.; one brother William Arnott Steele of Evansville, IN.; and several grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Cecil was preceded in death by three sisters; Ida Maxine Steele, Edna Mae Thompson and Lilly Irene Overman; and five brothers, Byron Virgil, Edgar Noble, Elmer Louis, John Wendel and Robert Eugene. Cecil liked most sports and loved playing many different card games with family and friends. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Danville and the Elks Lodge in Safford, AZ. Cecil worked at Tee-Pak for almost 31 years retiring in 1994. He was a great man, dad, husband and friend and will be missed by all who know him. A Celebration of Cecils Life will take place at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, IL., at 5:00 pm. on Wednesday March, 25, 2015 the Rev. Berry Long will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday March 25, 2015 from 3:00pm until 5:00 pm. Located at 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL.
