Some of their more memorable vacations were while Alex was young, to King's Island and Cedar Point Amusement Park, Disney World, out west to the Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons, the Rockies, Yosemite, the Redwood Forest, San Francisco, and east to the coast of Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Ashville, Charleston and Savanna. While in Switzerland, they had a chance to connect with old college friends from Illinois. Also memorable were several return trips to New Orleans and Florida. One of Cathy's favorite pastimes was gardening. Her yard was filled with beautiful floral displays every year. While Curt was attending Illinois State University in Normal, IL in the 1970's, Cathy took time out of her busy work schedule to take a few courses in horticulture and photography. She also enjoyed trying new recipes and always prepared wonderful meals for her family and friends. Music was also a big part of Cathy's life, taking Piano and Guitar lessons in her youth and playing guitar for St. Patrick's Church Folk Mass early in life. Music was enjoyed every day in her home. Cathy also loved dogs, but especially her beloved Weimaraner, Charlie. She and Curt had many wonderful friends over the years. From their early days of growing up in Danville and attending Danville High School together to their time in Normal, they amassed a large fun-loving group of friends. Always welcoming to everyone, she loved entertaining in her beautiful home that they built in 1991. She especially enjoyed many fun-filled evenings spent with friends on the deck by the pool or in their basement where seemingly endless moments of laughter occurred, and oh what a laugh she had.
