Catherine Louise Pierce, 83, of Catlin passed away on April 12, 2008 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Danville. Catherine was born November 20, 1924 in Sidell to William C. and Pearl Berlin Baker. She married Hershel L. Pierce on August 25, 1939 in Monticello, Illinois. He passed away on October 22, 1985. Survivors include Son: Richard (Joy) Pierce of Catlin; Daughters: Shirley Sherwood of Oakwood and Janet Longest (Jerry Heathercock) of Adams, TN; Eight grandchildren, Penny (Tim) Martin, Pam (Perry) Warner, Patti (Clarence) Greer, Cathy (Dwayne) High, Vicki (Todd) Watson, Sheila (John) Smiley, Chuck (Joy) Prunkard, and Eric Longest; Sixteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; four Sisters: Marjorie (Howard) Gaddis, Norma Selsor, Virginia Marquardt, Ruth Baker; two Brothers: William Baker and Wayne (Nancy) Baker; Sister-in-law: Verna Baker; Brother-in-law: Paul Quick; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, and two granddaughters; a Great grandson: Ryan Martin; and two brothers: John and Howard Baker; 8 sister-in-laws and 9 brother-in-laws. Catherine enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid gardener. She loved natures beauty of flowers, trees, birds, and animals. She enjoyed fishing and especially loved spending time with her family. She was a member of the Catlin Church of Christ. A Celebration of Catherines Life will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Sunsets Community & Life Tribute Center 3550 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL (formerly Lakeside-Barrick Funeral Chapel) with Darren Johnson & Dave Burger officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Oakridge Cemetery in Catlin. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com
