Catherine Marie Tahon

Catherine Marie Tahon, 73, of Danville passed away at 3:30 p.m. Sunday December 11, 2011 at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home. She was born on November 26, 1938 in Georgetown, IL the daughter of Walter and Goldie (Hall) Shaffer. She married Marcel Tahon on March 5, 1960 in Georgetown, IL. He preceded her in death on December 19, 2008. Survivors include her daughter, Dawn (John) Shepherd of Danville, her brother, Walter Shaffer of Williamsburg VA, her grandchildren, Tondia Harms of Paxton, IL, J.J. Dison of Oelwein, IA, and William Dison of Hazelton, IA, and her six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two daughters, Peri Tahon and Teresa Derra. Catherine belonged to the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and enjoyed bird watching. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday December 16, 2011 at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel in Westville. Rev. Joe Latson will officiate. Burial will be at Georgetown Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday December 15, 2011 at the funeral home.
