Danville- Catherine L. Spivey, 64, of Danville passed away at 1:58 PM on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She was born on February 12, 1949 in Chicago, IL to Jack and Mary Nigra Jacobs, and was raised by her mother and Arthur Zeilmann. She married William Ricky Spivey on April 30, 1988 in Georgetown. He preceded her in death on March 27, 2012. She is survived by a son, Michael (Kim) List of Rossville, IL; two daughters, Malia Gill of Danville and Sara Spivey of Danville; son-in-law, Bryan Gill of Leroy, IL; a sister, Marilyn (Larry) March; six grandchildren, Danielle Sirmans, Tyler and Jordan Price, Kaitlyn Gill, Anthony List, and Joseph Sandoval; and two great-grandchildren, Clayton and Jaysen Sirmans. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father, Jack Jacobs, her mother, Mary Zeilmann, and her dad, Arthur Zeilmann. Cathy had most recently worked as an accountant at CCMSI, from where she retired in December of 2011. Following retirement, she also enjoyed working part-time at H&R Block. Cathy was an active member at Danville United Church of Christ where she volunteered much of her time. Friends were very important to Cathy and she never knew a stranger. She always knew how to live life to its fullest. A service to celebrate the life of Catherine Spivey will be held at 11 AM on Friday, February, 7, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home in Danville. Pastor Terry Walters will officiate. Per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded following the services and entombment will take place in Sunset Memorial Park at a later time. Visitation will be held from 4 PM to 8PM on Thursday, February 6, also at Sunset in Danville. Memorials may be made to Danville United Church of Christ or Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Danville.
