Catherine 'Kay' Dossing

Danville- Catherine E. “Kay” Dossing, 87, of Danville passed away at 3:45 AM on Friday, December 13, 2013 at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. She was born on April 25, 1926 in Spring Valley, IL to John and Mary Davito. She married Robert M. Dossing on September 28, 1957 at St. Xavier Church in Chicago. He preceded her in death on April 15, 2008. She is survived by a daughter, Mary (Bill) Boswell of Danville; one son, Robert M. Dossing II of Danville; a brother, Dr. Silvio Davito of Spring Valley, IL; and a granddaughter, Catherine E. Boswell of Danville. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and an infant son. Kay had worked as a secretary at Rand McNally in Chicago where she met her husband. After coming to Danville, she became active with the St. Elizabeths Auxiliary and helped to make crafts for sale in the hospital gift shop. Kay was a wonderful mother and enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved to travel the world on cruises with her husband and square dance as a member of the Frontier Twirlers. A funeral mass for Catherine “Kay” Dossing will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at St. Pauls Catholic Church in Danville. Father Greg Nelson will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded, and entombment will take place following the services at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 AM prior to the service on Wednesday.
