Catherine 'Katie' Weddle

Catherine Katie Elizabeth Weddle, 87, resident of the Hawthorne Inn in Danville passed away on May 31, 2007 at Provena USMC Logan Campus. Katie was born April 27, 1920 in Danville daughter of Burt and Myrtle Phipps Smith. She was raised by Albert and Lydia Butts. She married Carl Myers and later married George Weddle on April 4, 1964 in Danville. He preceded her in June of 1998. Survivors include step daughter Elizabeth Ann (Gene) Surina of Springfield, IL; cousin Mary Katherine Howie of Danville; and special friends: Marge Adams, Faye Johnson, Mel Hines, & Roger McCall all of Danville. She was preceded in death by her parents and all of siblings. Katie attended Danville High and worked for Piggly Wiggly, Eisners, Shinners Meats, and retired from the VA Hospital in 83 after 17 years in dietetic services. She was a member of First Church of Christ as well as a song director and Sunday school teacher and was one of three of the founding members of the Illiana Organaire Club. A Celebration of Katies Life will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, June 4, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL with Pastor Kevin Cox officiating. Visitation will be from 2-5 pm Sunday afternoon at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery.
