Catherine Campbell

Catherine Campbell, 88, passed away on June 4, 2023, at her home in Champaign, IL. She was born on October 8, 1934, in Grace, MS the daughter of Alfred and Mary {Hite} Lee.

Catherine is survived by her children, Eddie F. Campbell, Darnell B. Campbell, Victor M. Campbell, Catherine "Nichole" Teague; grandchildren, LaToya (Ramone) Nelson, Terrell Bell, Eddie Campbell-Norris, Larell Campbell, Jezale (Troy) Carter, Brittany Teague, Leondria Perkins; siblings, Ceola Wilson, Rev. James (Cecilia) Lee, Jacob Lee, many great-grandchildren, and beloved friends.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Betty E. Campbell, twin sister, Azalene Smith, brother, Tobie Lee; sisters, Atha Jane Rose, Deliala Turner, Teola (Howard) Hensley and parents.

Catherine was a devout Christian and attended Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church in Champaign, where she was a member of the Mothers Ministry and Missionary Society. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and several past and present auxiliaries. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, shopping, traveling the world, gardening, and watching her favorite sports, basketball, football, baseball, and hockey.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11am on Friday, June 16, 2023, at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, 1310 N 6th St, Champaign, IL 61820. Visitation will be held prior from 10am to 11am at the church. Interment will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
