Carroll Albert St John was born June 15, 1935 at home in Melrose township, Clark County, IL, the second son of Dorsey Leland and Dorothy Jane Graham St John. Carroll died Friday May 24, 1013 at his home at age 77. He married Sharon Wilson July 13, 1957 and they were married for 55 years. He leaves two children; son Bruce Allen (Kerry) St John and daughter; Michelle Rae (Kevin) McGowan, also five grandchildren; Kate (Jason) LaPierre, Lee (Carrie) Veach, Lacey (James) Youhas, Jacob St John and Kalen McGowan. He will be missed by eight great-grandchildren; Micah, Braden, Davin and Nixie LaPierre, Isaiah, Eliza Jane and Ezekiel Youhas and his last little great granddaughter Ezra Veach. Also missing Carroll will be two brothers; Doyle and Kenneth ST John and two sisters; Joan Skinner and Mary Jane Hollingsworth, mother in-law; Dorothy McFarland and sister and brother in-law Fonda and John Radloff and special niece Bethany Hartman. Carroll loved country roads, country places, river banks lake shores and shade trees, picnics and fried chicken, sliced tomatoes and watermelon, he loved springtime, lilacs, tulips, peonies, red geraniums and back porch sitting. He was a hard working quiet man, a man of few words and a good listener, a good family man. Most of his adult life he worked for Davis Seed Corn Co, and Trisler Seed Corn Co both in Fairmount retiring from there in 1996. A memorial service will be in the chapel at Central Christian Church in Danville on Tuesday May 28, 2013 at 2:00pm with family present at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials are given to Santa's Anonymous of Westville or Central Christian Church Mission Trip Fund or charity of the donor's choice. A private burial will be at a later date at Darwin Cemetery. Sunset - Urbas Chapel of Westville is in charge of the arrangements.
