Carolyn Sue Spangler, 75, of Georgetown, passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village, Chrisman. She was born on October 16, 1934, in Georgetown, the daughter of Joseph F. & Flossie (Carrington) Golcynski, both deceased. She was married to Rich Wakeland and later married Tom Spangler. He will miss her dearly. Those who will also miss her include: her children, Cheryl Wakeland of Danville, Lisa (Steve) Learnard of Catlin, & Rich (Cami) Wakeland of Catlin; her step children, Chris (Vince) Schmitz of Dexter, IA, & Ted Spangler of Bloomington, MN; her grandchildren, Meagan (Ryan) High, J.D. Learnard, Kalyn Learnard, Heather Howe, Rich Wakeland, & Hope Wakeland; her step-grandchildren, Leah, Michael, Matti, four great grandchildren; her sister, Mary Helen (Harold) Williams of Penfield; her brother, John (Eileen) Golcynski of Georgetown; & her brother-in-law, Wayne (Winnie) Lewis of Georgetown. She was preceded in death by: her twin grandchildren, Amber & Adam Wakeland; and her sisters, Marilyn Golcynski, who died as an infant, & Jan Lewis. Sue was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, but her absolute favorite sports were the ones her grandchildren played. Sue retired from Quaker Oats Company and dearly loved the people she worked with and considered them a very special group. Her personality, sense of humor, and her caring nature, as well as, her ability to see only the good in others, made her beloved by all that knew her and to say that she will missed is an understatement. As long as we live, she lives. A Celebration of Sues life will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, May 28, 2010, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E West St, Georgetown. Pastor Jennie Chin will officiate. Visitation will be held 4:00pm to 7:00pm, Thursday, May 27, 2010, at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park, Danville. Memorial donations may be given in her name to Alzheimers Association. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com
