Carolyn Sue Shutt

Carolyn Sue (Wilkinson) Shutt, 82, of Danville passed away at 4:35pm on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Hawthorne Inn in Danville. She was born on February 25, 1935 in Danville, the daughter of Marie (Wilkinson) Peterson. On August 14, 1955 Carolyn married the love of her life, Jack Kenner Shutt, at Danville Bethel Lutheran Church. They spent the next 56 years together before his passing in September of 2011. Surviving Carolyn are a daughter Cathie Lynn (Michael) Kramer of Danville; son, Gregg Kenner (Nancy) Shutt of Danville; three grandchildren Alika Marie Kramer, Kenner Jack Shutt and Linna Caroline Shutt; brother-in-law, Charles (Jean) Shutt and their children Allison, Jill and Shelly; niece, Debra (Don) Christian and great-niece Michelle Beeson. She also leaves behind her beloved dog Mr. Boo. Carolyn was preceded in death by her mother, husband, and sisters Mary Ann (Tom) Graham and Phyllis (Joe) Alexander. Carolyn was a 1953 graduate of Danville High School. She then spent the next 65 years caring for her family and friends whom she truly loved. She enjoyed attending any activity her children and grandchildren were involved in. She was a lovable woman with a great personality and sense of humor. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. For this, she will be truly missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Presence and Hawthorne in Danville for providing wonderful care for Carolyn. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2pm on Wednesday January 31, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. Burial will be in Gordon Cemetery in Danville. Visitation will be held from 12pm to 2pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
