Carolyn M. Sinkular Sayler

Carolyn M. (Shenk) Sinkular Sayler from Mahomet, IL passed away March 12, 2025, at the age of 90. Carolyn was born Nov. 13, 1934, in Joliet, IL daughter of Vera (Blogg) and William Shenk.

After graduating Braidwood High School, she married Edwin Sinkular who passed away but from this marriage she gained two sons. On November 13, 1964, she married James Sayler who had four children. Two families became one. Surviving children are Colleen (Tom) Primmer of Brashear, MO, Mark Sinkular of Ruleville, MS, Kent (Linda) Sinkular of Mahomet, IL, Pam Duncan of Owenton, KY, and Eric (Pam) Sayler of Union, KY.

She loved spending time with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Carolyn was preceded in death by one son, Steven Sayler, daughter-in-law Millie Sinkular, two sons-in-law Dennis Phillischafske and David Duncan, sister Marjorie Farrar, brother Robert Shenk and niece Erin Farrar.

Carolyn was known as an excellent seamstress, skills learned from her mother. She enjoyed upholstering, traveling with her family, and horseback riding. Following Jim’s retirement, they moved to Waddy, KY. Carolyn worked as a Senior Accountant for the State of Kentucky for many years. After her retirement, she embarked on a business venture of buying and selling antiques. Recently she moved back to Mahomet with her cat “Kitty” to be near her son Kent and his family.

A Celebration of Life service will be on Saturday, March 29th, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center’s Mahomet Chapel 1102 Churchill Rd., Mahomet, IL 61853. Officiating will be Rev. Lutz Braunig. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 am to 11:30 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Mahomet.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Champaign Co. Humane Society.
