Carolyn Neild

Carolyn Neild, 85, from Georgetown, passed this life on February 19, 2026, at The Waters of Covington, IN. She was born to George and Mabel Dowers on March 13, 1940. Carolyn was married to Delbert Neild, and this union gave her 4 children. Christy Smitley (Lee) of Georgetown, Nancy Neild of Farmer City, Teresa Deaton of Georgetown, and Delbert (Russ) Neild (Jamie) of Jones MI.

She has 11 grandchildren Scott Neild, Joshua Neild, Stephen Barker (Amber), Matthew Barker (Rebecca), Cody Powell (Amanda), Justin Powell (Stephany), Jacob Neild (Makellee), Nate Neild, Jordan Rumsey (Sarah), Casey Rumsey (Siarra) and Brianna Wagoner (Brandon). She has 9 great grandchildren. Carolyn has a sister Linda Harrier (Phillip) and brother Richard (Francine) Dowers. She was preceded in death by Ronald Powell (son in law), Brothers Donald Dowers and George Dowers, and sisters Pauline Urbanski and Barbara Bann.

Carolyn worked as a homemaker raising her 4 children and later worked for Georgetown School District as a Teacher Aide for 20 years from which she retired. She loved working with children and was impacted many by her time working with the school and privately tutoring.

As a child, she was a Shiner child spending 8 months in the Chicago hospital She had fond memories of her time there remarking on how well she was treated under their care.

Being a lifelong resident of Georgetown, she was in many clubs and boards. She was in the TOPS, Georgetown Ladies Club, Georgetown Historical Society, and served on the Cemetery board. Carolyn attended Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Carolyn had many interests with her favorite being line dancing. She always loved different types of dancing. She enjoyed crafting, such as knitting and loved different types of dancing. She enjoyed crafting such as knitting and crocheting. Most of all she loved her family and lived her life surrounded by them

A visitation that will be held on February 23, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home - Houghton Leasure, located at 200 East West Street, Georgetown, IL, 61846. Her funeral service will take place the following day, February 24, 2026, at 10:00 AM, also at the same location.
