DANVILLE - Carolyn Joann Miller, 70, of Danville passed away Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Born December 24, 1944 in Danville, she was the daughter of Harold Grover and Virginia E. (Nixon) Michael. She married Larry Hilton, and they raised five children together. They later divorced. She then married Richard Miller on October 19, 1990 in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Carol was a caregiver for the Darby family for many years, treating Grandma Florence like a queen, and cooking for Jim and Caroline for many years. In that time, an amazing friendship was made between them. Carol loved any time she was able to spend with her family, especially holidays. She loved rainy days. Survivors include her husband, Richard Miller of Danville; six children, Lisa (Bob) Messick of Covington, Shane (Cher) Hilton of Hideaway, TX, DeAnne (Tim) Holycross of Danville, Stephanie Harvey of Danville, Richard (Avani) Miller of Chicago and Angela (Brett) Larsen of Indianapolis; two sisters, Sharon (Terry) Elliott of Westville and Donna (Roy) Vailes of Danville; thirteen grandchildren, Zack (Amanda) Messick, David (Sidney Redmon) Messick, Mariah Messick, EmmaLee Hilton, Mason Hilton, Tyler Williams, Katlynn Williams, Cole Harvey, Max Miller, Allison Larsen, Natalie Larsen and Sabrina Larsen, Marie (Brett) Schambach; three great grandchildren, Azmyra Williams, Dalton Schambach, and John Schambach; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Laura Nickles; and a brother, Buddy Michael; and a special place in her heart was kept for her Aunt Dorothy and Alan Junkard, a mother and father figure to her. A service to celebrate Carols life will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 2nd at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville. Pastor Drew Mentzer will officiate. She will be laid to rest following services at Sunset Memorial Park. A memorial has been established in her memory. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday evening, April 1st, at the funeral home.
