Carolyn Hutts

Carolyn Hutts, 90, of Covington, passed away at 8:58pm, Monday, September 4, 2023, at her home. She was born on May 17, 1933, in Danville, IL, the daughter of Joseph and Mildred {Smoot} Hinton. She was first married to William LeClaire from 1951-1965. She later married Paul Hutts in 1966 until his death in 2009.

She is survived by her children, William Bill LeClaire, Steven Dale LeClaire, Carol (Mike) Scully, and Patricia Pat (Duane) Grubb; her seven grandchildren, Katherine Scully, John Jack Scully,

Cari (Ryan) Sams-Sowers, Phillip Trey Sams, Kallay (Brandon) Grubb-Ricketts, and AJay (Brooklyn Newland) Grubb; her 9 great grandchildren; and her sister, Jeanne Anders. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, William LeClaire and Paul Hutts; her granddaughter, Marki Jo Sams in 2005.

Carolyn was a 1951 Graduate of Danville High School. She enjoyed taking care of her home and raising her children. She also worked at the Covington IGA for many years. She was the organist for Bethel Lutheran Church for 25 years and enjoyed teaching the piano and organ to many students. Carolyn will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
