Carolyn "Carol" Tolen, 85, of Dayton, OH, formerly of Danville, IL passed away at 6:15 AM on May 10, 2022 at Dayton Hospice in Dayton, OH.

Carol was born on November 1, 1936 in Paris, IL the daughter of Floyd and Levetta (Willmoth) Gayer. She married Wayne Tolen on June 5, 1955 in Paris, IL and he preceded her in death on February 11, 2013.

Surviving her are one son, Dewain Tolen, one daughter, Sheri (Tom) Hosken, nine grandchildren, Jeff Thatcher, Chad Thatcher, Kylie Trosper, Brandy Jay, Amber Johnson, Bradley Tolen, Sarah Scott, Jim Hosken, Alisha Hosken, nineteen great grandchildren, as well as one sister, Sharon (Moe) Marchant.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Wayne, two nephews, Greg Marchant and Brad Marchant and one granddaughter, Abigail Trosper.

Carol graduated from Paris High School in Paris, IL and was a member of St Pauls Catholic Church in Danville, IL and later St Henrys Parish in Miamisburg, OH. She retired from R&S Printing in Danville, IL and enjoyed spending her free time reading, gardening, watching Illini basketball and visiting her sister in Arizona when able.

A Private Family Celebration of Life Memorial Mass for Carol will be held at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Father Bowan Schmitt will officiate. Inurnment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park.

Memorials can be made in Carols memory to St. Paul's Catholic Church or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
