Carolyn Jean Brady

Grayson, GA - Carolyn “Jean” (Lenover) Brady, 95, of Grayson, GA, formerly of Danville, IL, passed away Monday, January 6, 2025. “Jean” was born in Danville, IL. She graduated from Danville High School and married William W. Brady, who preceded her in death. Her parents Lester L. Lenover and Grace “Dutch” Lenover; and brothers Robert Lenover and Richard Lenover also preceded her. 

Jean is survived by Barbara Bettegnies, Martin Brady (Lee Hopper) and Jacalyn Butler; seven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

Grayson United Methodist Church and its Empty Nester Sunday School class were sources of her many friendships since relocating to Georgia in 2020. St. James United Methodist Church in Danville, IL, was her family church home for decades. Her activity with church bazaars helped raise funds for community outreach.  

As bookkeeper in different capacities, she was prepared for leadership roles in Faith in Action, Women In Construction and church groups. 

An avid reader, she followed world events and enjoyed solving word puzzles. Jean was a skilled knitter and seamstress, loved plants, flowers and travel, both domestic and foreign. In 1937, a trip with four generations of her family was a cherished memory. The seven-week journey began in Danville, IL, crossed the country through Yellowstone Park to the recently completed Golden Gate Bridge and the Hoover Dam. The vehicle was a livestock truck converted into an early version of an RV. Jean was the last survivor of that trip. 

A service to celebrate the life of Carolyn “Jean” Brady will be held at 11 AM on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834. Reverend Dr. Donald Jackson will officiate. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM on Friday prior to the service, also at Sunset in Danville.
