Caroline Unkraut

Tilton - Caroline V. Unkraut, 89, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2015 in her own home in Tilton, Illinois. Caroline was born the daughter of Harry and Virginia Culp on June 22, 1925 in Westville, Illinois. Caroline married Charles R. Unkraut on May 20, 1944, the two enjoyed 56 years of marriage together. He precedes her in death having passed on December 14, 2000. Caroline is survived by Carol (Ron) Clark of St. Louis, MO, Cherie (James) Davenport of Columbia SC, Debrah (Dick) Dale of Lexington, OH, and Charles R. “Chip” Unkraut II of Danville, IL; her sister Virginia May Knight; her grandchildren Teresa, Keri, Ann, Chad, Nicholas, Zachary, Matthew, Scott, Claire; and her great-grandchildren Shu, DJ, Taylor, Ashton, Danielle, Faith, Genevieve, Jacqueline, Jacob, Meredith, Brooklyn, Brycen, Carlea, Lyndi, and Ryann. Caroline is preceded in death by her husband Charles, her parents Harry and Virginia, her brothers Harry L. Culp, Fred N. Culp, and John C. Culp. Caroline was a graduate from Danville High School. After high school, Caroline became a welder, she worked at GE until 1986 when she retired. During her retirement Caroline was a volunteer for hospice for over 20 years. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Karen Davidson from Carle Hospice, Traci for CRIS, and Mary Harden for her support and love. A chapel service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park on Monday, March 2, 2015 at 1 p.m. The service will be officiated by Pastor James Blue with a burial to follow.
