Carole Sue Hines

Carole Sue Hines, 81, passed away on August 7, 2024 at her home in Covington. She was born in Jacksonville, Florida on September 10, 1942, to the late Sarah E. [Sprouls] Large and James F. Bowers, Sr. The family moved from Jacksonville in 1953, and Carole graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1960. She furthered her education by attending beauty school in Danville.

Carole married her beloved Albert Lawrence "Larry" Hines on February 29, 1976. After moving to Covington, she became the secretary for the School Superintendent for several years. Carole began her 27 year-long career at Fountain Trust Company in Covington in 1997. It was a job she enjoyed doing. She was a faithful and devoted member of the First Church of Christ in Covington. She not only taught Sunday School for children for many years but participated in many womens bible studies, worked in the kitchen, and joined the Brew Crews weekly gathering. She and her husband, Larry, enjoyed traveling and were able to make it to 48 states before his passing. Many will remember them walking hand and hand all over Covington. Carole held many lifelong friendships and looked forward to the plentiful lunch dates that afforded her a chance to catch up with good friends. These past few years, Caroles life was centered around her granddaughter, Serenity. She enjoyed taking care of her and pouring all her love into her granddaughters life. Carole will be dearly missed by all those who knew her.

Carole is survived by her children Dawn (Pat) Yoho, Hope Hines, Jeffrey (Ruth) Hines, Scott (Ann) Hines, Joshua (Natalie) Hines, and her grandchildren Heather, Travis (Ashley), Haley, Caleb, Abby (Justin), Brandon, Claire, and Serenity. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren Madison, Mallory, Jazmine, Avery, Olivia, Emmett, Haven, Hudson, Ava, and Ari; her brother James (Judy) Bowers, Jr., and her cousin Nancy Frye.

In addition to her parents, Carole is preceded in death by her husband Larry Hines and her cousin Johnny Rennison.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024 from 4:00pm 7:00pm EST at the First Church of Christ, located at 615 5th Street in Covington. A funeral service officiated by Pastor Joey Emrick will take place the following day on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 10 am EST at the church. She will be laid to rest with Larry at Mount Hope Cemetery in Covington following services. Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to either the First Church of Christ or the Womens Shelter in Attica.
