Carole J. Toth, 82, of Westville, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at home with family after a brief illness. She was born March 16, 1936 to Adhemar and Leona Finet of Westville. She married Stephen Toth on July 31, 1954, in Westville. He proceeded her in death in 2008 after 53 years together. Carole graduated from Westville High School in 1954. She was a stay at home mom for several years before going back to school to become a licensed practical nurse. During her nursing career she worked twenty years between St. Elizabeth Hospital and Lakeview Hospital/Provena, and then two years in the private practice of Dr. Timothy Horner and Drs. William and Jim Hensold. She was a compassionate care giver who always put the comfort of her patient first, as well as a good friend/co-worker who would work Christmas Day (after her own children were grown) so nurses with small children could be home with them on Christmas morning. She continued to serve after retiring, in a volunteer capacity, in various departments in the hospital until this past spring. Carole loved attending sporting events, band concerts, or any other activities her children and/or grandchildren were involved in. That possessed her and Stephen to purchase a piece of lake property in Oakwood where family summer memories were made that will last a lifetime. They also enjoyed traveling with vacations and cruises to the Caribbean, the Panama Canal, Hawaii, Alaska, Ireland, New England, Florida and Alabama. Surviving are: her children, Lonny (Lyle) Rigdon of South Elgin, Chris (Mark) McDaniels of Georgetown, Barb (Michael) Rowley of Kankakee and Matt (Shari) Toth of Westville, seven grandchildren, Nick McDaniels (Lisa), Bryan McDaniels (Jamie), Luke (Christy) Rigdon, Jared (Dana) Rowley, Lauren (Nick) Reno, David Toth and Jason Toth (Krista) ; five great-grandchildren, Alexis, Sophia and Aidyn McDaniels and Cole and Jay Rigdon, (and another one expected in March), a brother Arthur (Edwina) Finet of Monticello; and a sister Geraldine Willard of Danville. A celebration of Caroles life will be held at 3:30, Saturday, January 5, 2019, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S. State Street, Westville, with Rev. David Robberts-Mosser officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00-3:30 pm Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home. Private burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Caroles name may be given to the Westville Public Library (where Carole was an avid reader) or the Westville Trinity Church of Christ (where Carole was a member and enjoyed the many gatherings they had after the services where her and her sister both attended regularly). Please join her family in sharing memories through her Tribute Wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
