Carol West

Carol Sue West, 79, of Georgetown, passed away at Newman Rehabilitation and Health Center, in Newman, IL on early Tuesday morning January 9, 2024, with family by her side. Carol was born August 13, 1944, in Centralia, IL the daughter of Ray and Freida (Dugan) Prather. Carol married Charles "Chuck" West in 1963. Even though they parted lives, he remained someone she cared about. Chuck preceded Carol in death in 2014.

Surviving Carol are her children; son, Kenneth West and daughter, Lisa Gordan, her grandchildren; Abigail, Brock and, Coscha Young, her great grandchildren; Hunter, Zaydien, Remington, Addalynn and Hadley, her sister Marilyn Schneider (Earl) of Carlyle, Il.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, Melinda Kay West, two sisters; Doris Liddell, Norma Cerny, three brothers; Jack, Jerry and, Gale Prather.

Carol was compassionate, selfless and a hard worker. Carol retired from the Chuckles Candy Company in Danville, Il. After retirement, Carol began helping with children and was a Nanny in the Danville area for many years. Carol truly loved children, especially her grandchildren.

One of her favorite hobbies was playing Bingo with family and friends. She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. The Lord has taken her to a better place.

A celebration of Carols life will be held at 1 pm on Thursday January 18, 2024, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, IL 200 E West Street. With Steve Pearson officiating. Burial to follow at Georgetown Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday January 18, 2024, 11am -1pm. The family would like to thank the staff at Newman Rehabilitation and Health Center for the excellent care that they gave to Carol during her stay there. Memorials may be given in Carols name to be given to the staff at Newman Rehabilitation and Health Center.
