Carol Voyles

Carol Voyles, 85, died Tuesday, March 5, 2013, in a nursing home near Reno, Nev., after a losing battle with pneumonia. Carol was born on Jan. 21, 1928 to Pearl and James Donaldson in Georgetown, Ill. A registered nurse, she retired after a 20-year career with the Veterans Administration hospitals in Danville, Ill. and in Reno. She was a 1949 graduate of the Saint Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing in Danville and graduated from Georgetown High School in 1945. For 36 years, she was married to Don Voyles, who died in 1986. They owned the Voyles Barber and Beauty Supply business on East Main Street in Danville for years and were members of the Edgewood Baptist Church. They moved to Reno in 1983. Surviving are four children: Charles Voyles, of Sacramento, Calif., and Susan (Voyles) Dornan, of Reno, Brian Voyles, of Reno, and Judith (Voyles) van Aman, in nearby Gardnerville. In her last years, Carol's children took care of her. She enjoyed spending time with her seven grandchildren and almost daily visits with her three little great-granddaughters. A Celebration of Carol's Life will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville with Pastor Raymie Gordon officiating. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials can be made in Carol's name to the American Heart Association.
