Carol R Thompson

Carol Thompson, 74, passed on Wednesday, November 4, surrounded by her family at Williamsport Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in 1951 to William and Margaret (Bass) Brown in Danville, Illinois. She married the man with whom she would spend the rest of her life, Lance Thompson, on June 25, 1971, and they lived a beautiful life together with their son.

Carol had many joys in her life. She enjoyed strolls in the woods and morel hunting, enriching her only son’s passion for time in nature. She was an avid owl lover and decorated any space she lived in with beautiful owls. She enjoyed a good muscle car and was a member of the Vintage Rods car club. Her most joyous moments were times she spent with her grandchildren.

Along with Lance and their son Travis (Kathryn) Thompson, Carol is survived by four grandchildren and ten greatgrandchildren. Her parents and two brothers preceded her in passing.

A Celebration of Life to honor Carol will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2026, from 3:00-5:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home, 3940 N Vermilion St, Danville, IL 61834.
