ALVIN - Carol Taylor, 82, of Alvin passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his family. Born April 21, 1932 in Danville, he was the son of Artie and Leona (Kinney) Taylor. He married Barbara Hawes Richards on November 19, 1978 in Danville. Carol was a heavy equipment operator for ONeil Brothers Construction in Danville for many years. He was very proud of being a member of Local 841 for 65 years. He also was owner of Taylor House Moving, relocating many large buildings in the area. He was a member of the Danville Moose Lodge, and the Pollywog Association in Oakwood. Carol enjoyed farming, fishing and gardening. He also loved watching Westerns, and building and tinkering on things. He was a jack of all trades. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Barbara of Alvin; two sons, Tom (Brenda) Taylor of Westville, Glen (Rebecca) Richards of Covington; five daughters, Brenda (Steve) Copsy of Olivet, Pam (John Boyd) Thomas of Westville, Tina (Charlie) Forshier of Danville, Carolyn Taylor of Springfield and Jill (Gary) Jones of Tilton; two brothers, Rich Taylor of Boswell and Jimmy (Barb) Taylor of Attica; two sisters, Doris (Donn) Payne of Covington and MaryLou (Clint) Simmons of West Lafayette; fifteen grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Vernon Taylor, Verle Taylor and Norman Taylor. A service to celebrate Carols life will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 10th at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Drew Mentzer officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials have been established for Second Church of Christ and Carle Hospice.
