Danville Carol Jo Holaves passed away at 7:39 AM on April 8, 2024 at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville, IL.

Carol was born on August 9, 1936 in Danville, IL, but was raised in Champaign until her Junior year of High School. Her family moved to Catlin where she finished High School and attended one year at the University of Miami after moving to Florida. Most of her adult life she enjoyed living in Florida, where she worked as a dental assistant.

Carol is preceded in death by her mother, Marjorie Kavanaugh; father, Shelly Bragg; husband, Gus Holaves; and son, Michael Bratton. Carols son Michael was the love of her life.

Carol was a member of St James United Methodist Church and belong to two Danville Garden Clubs, Red Hats and Old Town Preservation. She loved entertainment, reading, games, dancing and traveled the world extensively.

Carols friends meant the world to her throughout her lifetime and she was known for her love of all animals, especially her beloved cats.

A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 11:30 AM at Woodlawn Cemetery in Indianola, IL. Rev. Dr. Don Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Indianola, IL. Following the Graveside Service there will be a luncheon for Carols family and friends. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834 is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Carols memory are requested to C.A.R.A. Animal Rescue in Tilton, IL.
