Carol Green

Carol Green, 74, of Danville, passed away on December 30, 2022, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She was born a daughter of Mary Ellen and Johnnie Robbins in the small town of Dora, Alabama, on April 22, 1948. They preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her brother Larry Robbins.

Carol received the Board of Governor's Bachelor of Arts Degree at Eastern Illinois University in 1984. After answering a 'Wanted: Girl Friday' ad, she started working in social services. That is when she was hired as the administrative assistant for the Vermilion County Mental Health Board. In 1984, she became the CEO of CRIS Senior Services. In 1995, Carol moved to Rockford, Illinois, where she served as the CEO of Lifescape Community Services and remained until her retirement in 2016. She later returned to Danville, Illinois.

Carol enjoyed serving her community by participating on several boards and organizations. She was recently honored to become an auxiliary member of the American Legion. She loved spending time with her family and living life to its fullest. She began skydiving at the age of 70, along with other adventurous activities.

Carol married Ronald Green in April of 1986 in Lebanon, Indiana. They spent 26 wonderful years together before his death in 2012.

Carol found love again in 2018 when she met Clint Karushis of Covington, Indiana.

Carol is survived by her children Kelly (Mosezell) Magee of Arlington, Texas, and Jim (Diana) Sweezy of Joppa, Alabama; partner, Clint Karushis of Covington, Indiana; and 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; Sisters Freda Zachery of Mooresville, Indiana and Martha Hutson of Tilton, Illinois; brothers Rick (Rhonda) Robbins of Williamsport, Indiana and Tony Robbins of Lafayette, Indiana.

A Celebration of Carol's life will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 1:00 pm CST at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, located at 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville, Illinois.
