Carol Ghibaudy

Carol Ghibaudy, 81, of Westville passed away on Monday November 13, 2023, at home with family by her side. She was born on April 8, 1942, in Oxnard, California to Jesse and Opal (Smith) Hammer. She married Carl Ghibaudy on October 23, 1989 and he survives.

Also surviving is her daughter, Terri (Greg) Durst and their daughter Jessica Durst of Mahomet, her stepson Dale Ghibaudy and his children Kody and Karly Ghibaudy of Westville, and her brother Jesse John Hammer of Ventura, California.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, James "Jay" and Floyd Hammer, two sisters, Maxine Spaulding and Jackie Stroud.

During the 34 years of marriage to Carl, Carol was by his side helping on the farm. From doctoring cows to bailing hay, she was involved in every aspect of the farm life. Carol also enjoyed crafting, cooking, Christmas shopping with her granddaughters, and finding a good rummage sale, but what she loved most was the time she spent with her family. She was truly the glue that held everyone together.

She will be remembered most for her kind and loving spirit, generosity to others, and her ability to tackle anything she put her mind to. To know her was to love her.

Carol attended Saint Marys Catholic Church in Westville, rarely missing a mass in over 34 years. A mass will be held at Saint Marys Catholic Church on December 3 at 10:30 am. Per Carols wishes, cremation rights will be accorded with the help of Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Westville, IL. Please join Carols family in sharing memories on her tribute wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com
