Carol E. Goings

TILTON - Carol Elizabeth Goings, 82, of Tilton passed away Friday, September 26, 2014 at Presence United Samaritan Medical Center in Danville. Carol was born October 7, 1931 in Tilton she was the daughter of Glen and Hazel (Osborne) Colby. She married Norman John “Jack” Goings on September 6, 1953 in Tilton, Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 2, 1981. Carol worked for Teepak in Danville as a machine operator in the Shearing Department. She was a member of United Church of Tilton. Carol enjoyed following Republican politics, bowling, and reading. She especially loved just getting in the car and driving, whether it be to visit family, or taking the grandkids on a ride. Carol is survived by two daughters, Sally Jo (Jeff) Markel of Villa Grove, and Cindy Jean (Raymond) South of Oakwood; two brothers, Jim (Marilyn) Colby of Roseville and Norman (Judy) Colby of West Lebanon, IN; two sisters, Peg Smiley of Tilton and Mary Jo Garewal of Holtville, CA; eight grandchildren, Josh (Marci) Howard of Villa Grove, Justin (Ariel) Howard of Villa Grove, Joanna (Mike) Badgett of Villa Grove, Kristen (Jacob) Craig of Arcola, Maria Markel of Portland, OR, Andrea (David) Munoz of Westville, John (Katherine) Pollert of Georgetown and Bryan Youhas of Tilton; seventeen great grandchildren, Ethan, Lydia and Alexa Howard, Scarlett and Margot Howard, Michael, Eric and Hailey Badgett, Anna Craig, Hannah, Nathaniel, Lilyanna, Malia and Antonio Munoz, and Peyton, Sawyer and Paislee Pollert. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack; an infant son, Norman John Goings, Jr.; four brothers, Bud, Elmer, Glendale and Kenneth Colby; and two sisters; Hazel Knapp and Sharon Colby. A service to celebrate Carols life will be 11 a.m. Thursday, October 2nd at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel of Westville. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Danville National Cemetery.
