Carol Courson

Carol Courson, 82, of Danville, IL passed away at 7:05 AM on May 17, 2025 at her home with her family by her side.

Carol was born on January 8, 1943 in Danville, IL the daughter of John and Ruth Laverne Korso (Edwards). She married her husband of 63 years, Michael “Mick” Courson on January 26, 1962 in Champaign, IL and he survives.

Survivors include her husband, Mike “Mick” Courson of Danville, IL, her daughter, Cathy (Gary) Sackett of Brooklet, GA, her son, Jerry (Katherine “Kathy”) Courson of Bismarck, IL, grandchildren, Alexis (Travis) Denius, and Michael “Mike” (Taylor) Courson, great grandchildren, Maverick Sackett, Remington “Remi” Denius, Colton “CJ” (a.k.a Bubba) Denius, Thomas “Tommy” Courson with one more on the way in December.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, Tharon Sackett and one aunt, Jane Queenan.

Carol was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church. She graduated from Danville High School in 1962. Carol lived most of her married life in Danville with two exceptions. She and Mick lived for a short time in Portland, OR and three years in Crawfordsville, IN when Mick worked for Hyster. Carol herself worked at TeePak in a variety of office positions, mostly as a customer service representative, and retired in 2003 after 22 years of service. Carol was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, 20 year breast cancer survivor, and loved to take cruises and entertaining family and friends.

Carol loved her family dearly and spending quality time with all of them was very important to her. She hosted Sunday dinners for the family regularly, except for the last 8 years. However, the family dinners continue with her granddaughter Alexis picking up the hosting of these gatherings, giving her grandma a rest.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 901 W Fairchild Street, Danville, Illinois 61832. Pastor Ed Stone will officiate. Inurnment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 11:00-12:00 PM on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at the Church.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled and announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Carol’s memory to the Bethel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.

The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and well-wishes as well as a special thank you to the Carle Hospice staff who took such wonderful care of Carol.
