Carol Brandenberger, 66, of Marion, IL, formerly of Danville, passed away at 8:27pm on Monday, January 10, 2011 at the Carbondale Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, IL. She was born on June 9, 1944, in Havre, Montana, the daughter of Leroy W. and Kathrine (Rasmussen) Ryan. Both deceased. Carol is survived and will be missed by her two children, Michael Brandenberger of Portland, Oregon, and Amy (Mark) Surburg of Marion, IL. Her four grandchildren, Timothy, Matthew, Abigail, and Michael Surburg. Her two brothers, Richard (Sharon) Ryan of Portland, OR, Michael (Betty) Ryan of Billings, MT, and her many nieces and nephews, also survive her. In addition to her parents, her three brothers, Williams, John, and David Ryan, preceded Carol in death. She was a graduate of Colton High School in Oregon, and furthered her education by earning her Bachelors Degree from Aurora College, and her Masters Degree from the University of Illinois. She was presently teaching for Illinois District #118, until her untimely death. Carol was a member of the P.E.O., enjoyed reading, gardening, and her grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her. A Celebration of Life service for Carol Brandenberger will begin at 10:00am on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, located at 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be from 4-8pm on Friday, January 14, 2011 at the funeral home.
