Carol Ann (Dawes) Moody, 68, of Westville received her angels wings at 4:10 PM, Friday, August 24, 2007 at her residence. She was born July 5, 1939 in Danville the daughter of Estelle Harlan Dawes and Mildred Marie Higgins Carol has been actively involved in Relay for Life for the past five years, focusing on raising money to find a cure and a way to diagnose pancreatic cancer sooner. She was married to Richard Lee Moody Sr. in 1977 and he preceded her on December 16, 1996. Between the two of them they had four children. Her two daughters Debra (Perkins) Haton and Karen (Perkins) Knicely; and his two children Richard Lee Moody Jr., Twila (Moody) Weathers. Carol had three grandchildren from her daughters Matthew James (Bobbie Jo) Haton, Holly Noel Mountry, and Hank William Knicely. Three great grandchildren Tobie and Brodie Haton and Trenton Mountry, and anxiously awaiting her first great granddaughter Whitnie Ann Haton. With her husbands children she had grandchildren; Seth Moody, Vanessa, Angie, Aneika and Aneisha, and Numerous great grandchildren from them. She didnt like the word stepchild as she loved them all the same. She was very close to her grandson Matthew and his family, her grandson Seth and especially her son-in-law Jim Haton.Also surviving is a sister Beverly Jean (Don) Bailey. She was preceded by her parents, grandson, Joshua Lee Moody, grandson Richard Lee Moody III, and another grandchild. She was a member of Community Church of God and Women in Construction. Carol was loved by all who knew her. Her fellow employees from Danville Asphalt and ONeil Bros, most were referred to as her guys. Carol retired from ONeil Bros after 25 years of service. Most recently she was employed at the Westville public library. She enjoyed getting together with all the girls monthly for girls night out. She also had very close friends she loved and adopted as her other kids: Danny & Ann Rudd and their girls Staci Kyle & Justina, Anderson and their girls Kermie and Izzy. Any many nieces and nephews especially her favorite niece Toni Sue West and close cousins Lynn Citizen, Georgie Maxwell and Bonnie Mack. A Celebration of Carols Life will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at Sunsets Community & Life Tribute Center 3550 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL (formerly Lakeside-Barrick Funeral Chapel) with Pastors Joel Ferren and Corey Stocksdale officiating. Visitation will be held from 2-8 pm Monday evening at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at McKeendre Cemetery in Rural Georgetown.
