Carletta Chamberlain, 63, a resident of Covington, IN, and formerly of Elkins, WV and Mt. Carmel, IL, died Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 1:48pm at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. At her request, no services will be held, but her cremains will be scattered by balloon at a later date. Sunsets Covington Chapel, a life celebration home, has been asked to handle the cremation process. Ms. Chamberlain was born on October 9, 1947 in Elkins, WV to Raymond and Mary (Champ) Chamberlain and was one of 14 brothers and sisters. Ms. Chamberlain graduated high school in Baltimore, MD, and then joined the United States Womens Army Corps. She served as a military intelligence coordinator and it was there that she met her husband, Jack Hall. She served in the military until just prior to the birth of their first child, a daughter, Clarissa. Jack and Carletta also had a son together, David. Carletta spent much of her life working at Snap-On Tools, Inc, moving up from clerical position all the way up to plant superintendent and then on to an HR Manager after completing a Masters program in business administration. She worked for Snap-On for approximately 27 years and made many close friends that she truly missed after retiring in 2003. She worked in both the Mt. Carmel facility and in the Elizabethton facility in TN. An avid reader and Sudoku player, Carletta was also very creative and enjoyed crafting and sewing for her family. Once a professional seamstress, she was quite talented and blessed her family with many things that she created. Her beautiful singing voice was enjoyed by her children and grandchildren alike. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Raymond Luther Chamberlain Sr. and Mary Lorraine (Champ) Chamberlain, her brothers, Harold Wayne (Marcie) and Raymond Luther (Jean) Chamberlain Jr., and three sisters, Betty Louise, Janet Lorraine, and Luella Rose Chamberlain. She is survived by her daughter, Clarissa Ann (Randy) VanVickle of Covington, their three children, Nicholas David, Alexandra Rae, and Zachary Lee, and a son, David Lee (Kerry) Hall and their two children, Lauren Lorene and Kourtney Renee. Also living is Clarissa and Davids father, Jack (Diana) Hall of Mt. Carmel, IL, and her once mother-in-law, Clara Paille of Mt. Carmel. Also surviving are three brothers, Carl, her twin, of Baltimore, MD, Wilbert Layne (Jonni) of Canton, OH, and Alan Ross (Karen) Chamberlain, of Franklin, WV. Five sisters, Loretta Ferne Kalm and Judith Ann (John) Mongan, all of Baltimore, MD, Barbara June Welch, of Woodstock, VA, Mary Lee (Jack) Sterling of, Canton, OH, Ellen Joyce (June) Lanham of Elkins, WV, and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved very much.
