Carl Young

Carl Young, 76, of Georgetown, passed away at 5:47am, Friday, August 25, 2023, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL. He was born on October 26, 1946, in Danville, IL, the son of Richard and Vema {Miller} Young. He was united in marriage to Judy McCoy on September 4, 1966. She will miss him dearly. He will also be missed by his children, David (Laura) Young, Matthew Young, Angela Schreiber, Aaron (Anna Schweig) Young, Nathan (Samantha) Young, Natalie (Nick) Shipman, Emilie (Andrew) Webber; his grandchildren, Will (Joylily), Ethan (Carol), Melanie (Kevin), Levi, Molly, Alexandra, Abigail (Jameson), Adelaide, McCoy, Claire, Melodie, Ryan, Sophie, Liam, Owen, Keaghan, James, Willow, and Tallulah; his seven great grandchildren; his four sisters; and two brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Jack Young; one great grandson; and his brother, Kent Young. Carl owned and operated Youngs Furniture & Appliances in Georgetown for 23 years. He had also owned Youngs Meat Packing for many years. He attended Calvary Baptist Church for 28 years. He enjoyed Rockabilly music and was known for his knowledge of family genealogy. He will be remembered by all who knew and loved him. A celebration of Carls life will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, Illinois 200 E. West St. Georgetown, Illinois 61846 with Pastor James Blue officiating. A visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Wednesday, August 30, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Pleasant Mound Cemetery, Georgetown. Memorial donations may be given in his name to the donors choice of charity.
