Carl 'Wayne' Koehn

Carl Wayne Koehn, 62, of Alvin, IL, passed away at his residence, at5:02am Friday, February 25, 2011, after a brave battle with cancer. He was born on August 18, 1948, in Danville, the son of Carl A. and Pearl (Switzer) Koehn. Both are deceased. On October 10, 1970, Wayne married Karen Boen in Danville. She survives along with three children, Carla (Mark) Overlander of Rossville, Jeff (Jessica) Koehn of Alvin, and Chere (Steve) Sellers of Minnesota. His nine grandchildren, Allison and Allen ,Katelyn, Chloe, and Madison, Kaylee, Skyler, Cha-Leigh, and Karlie, his brother, Phillip Koehn of Oakwood, and his sister, Cathy (Danny) Cox of Tilton, also survive him. His parents and one brother, Keith Beam, preceded Wayne in death. He was a high school graduate and was employed with Quaker Oates as a machinist. Wayne enjoyed hunting and, fishing at his pond, horse shows, NASCAR, and visiting his many friends in Alvin. Wayne also cherished his time he spent with his grandchildren and family. He will be missed by all that knew him. A Celebration of the Life of Carl Wayne Koehn will begin at 10:00am on Monday, February 28, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, located at 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville with burial to follow at Gundy Cemetery in Bismarck. Visitation for family and friends will be from 4-7pm on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the AMVETS, and or the Vermilion County Animal Shelter Foundation.
