Carl James Hepburn, 84, of Ridge Farm, IL, went home to be with his Lord at 5:51 am, Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at VA Illiana Healthcare System, Danville. He was born on January 29, 1925, in Indianola, IL, the son of Cleland T. and Lois (Crawford) Hepburn. He was wed to Geneva J. Lewis on February 7, 1949, in Catlin, IL. She survives. Other survivors include: his sons, Michael (Debra) Hepburn of Georgetown, Larry (Lynn) Hepburn of Westville, & Randy Hepburn of Olivet; his daughter, Cyndi (Arthur Meyers) Kegley of Indianapolis, IN; his grandchildren, Andy (Emily) Hepburn of Wisconsin, Aaron (Carrie) Hepburn of St. Charles, MO, Allen Hepburn of Danville, Meghan Hepburn of Texas, Stephanie Hepburn of Ridge Farm, Korie Kegley of Indianapolis, IN, Eric Hepburn of Georgetown; his ten great grandchildren, Logan, Alex, Katie, Lauren, Noah, James, Simon, Triston, Austin, his brothers, Tom (Joann) Hepburn of Kansas, Jack (Norma) Hepburn of Urbana, & Bill (Doyne) Hepburn of Florida; and his sister, Sue (Ron) Colwell of Catlin. His parents and two brothers, Gail & Kenneth, preceded Carl in death. Carl was a proud Veteran of the US Army. He had been stationed at Ie-Shima during WWII. He worked as a masonry contractor during his life. He was a long-time member of the Bethel Baptist Church of Georgetown where he had served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a member Emeritus of the board of Christian Service Centers as well as being a past president. He also served on the board for Camp Assurance. As a pilot, Carl owned his own plane and enjoyed flying very much. Carl spent his leisure time golfing, fishing, hunting, and mushroom hunting. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. He was loved much and will be missed by all. A celebration of Carls life will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Bethel Baptist Church, 501 S Main St, Georgetown, IL. Pastor Gerald McPhillips will officiate. Visitation will be held from 2p-8p, Friday, April 17, 2009, at the church. He will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park, Danville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Christian Service Centers. Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
