Carl J. Bartlett

Danville Carl J. Bartlett, 100, of Danville died at 2:36 PM on Friday, January 19, 2024 at Hawthorne Inn of Danville with his family by his side. He was born July 12, 1923 in Whitestown, IN, a son of Carl O. and Burlene (Wills) Bartlett. He married Dorothy M. Hancock on November 1, 1942 in Danville. She preceded him in death in June of 2002.

Survivors include three sons, Ronald L. (Pat) Bartlett, Dennis W. (Diane) Bartlett, and Larry D. (Raymona) Bartlett, all of Danville; a daughter, Sharon (Bill) Bennett of Danville; brother Norman (Linda) Bartlett of Peoria, IL; seven grandchildren, Stacie Bartlett, Scott Bartlett, Brian (Kari) Bartlett, Ryan Bartlett, Justin Bartlett, Melissa (Matt) Fitzwater, and Christina (Aaron) Mockbee; nine great-grandchildren, Ethan, Ellie, Gavin, Chelsie, Kylie, Zachary, Emily, Olivia, and Madison; and a great-great grandson, Kanon.

In addition to his parents and wife, Carl was preceded in death by a brother, Malcolm, and a sister, Jean.

Carl served his country in the United States Army during WWII. While in the service, he received several medals including the Purple Heart. He worked at the VA Medical Center in Danville as a supervisor in Building Management until his retirement. In his spare time Carl enjoyed cheering for the Cubs and the Illini, fishing, and going on camping trips. He also liked working in his garden and going to garage sales. Carl loved his family and was always there to help his children whenever they needed it. He will be missed by all that knew him.

A service to celebrate the life of Carl J. Bartlett will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834. Pastor Bill Wright will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM prior to the service on Wednesday, also at Sunset in Danville. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
